What is a puppy raiser?

Puppy raisers are people who volunteer their time to service dog organizations to help raise and train service dog prospects for disabled individuals.

What are the requirements for puppy raisers?

  • Work closely with Hands and Paws Canine Training LLC to monitor the puppy’s progress and submit weekly reports

  • Attend the assigned amount of lessons. (2-4 lessons per month on average) (lessons are free)

  • Teach the puppy manners and basic commands.

  • Follow the proper socialization and exposure curriculum you are provided

  • Tag Hands and Paws Canine Training LLC in all puppy posts.

  • Acquire and utilize a kennel or crate for sleeping indoors.

  • Provide the puppy with age-appropriate socialization opportunities, such as public outings and veterinary appointments.

  • Keep the puppy on a leash at all times, unless supervised in a securely fenced area.

  • Supervise young and older puppies throughout the day.

  • Agree to return the puppy upon request.

  • Maintain a clean environment for the puppy to live in.

The details!

There are several options for raising puppies with Hands and Paws Canine Training. All puppy raisers have the options of raining puppies from 8weeks-12+ months of age.

Age brackets are:

8 weeks- 4.5 months
4.5 months- 8 months
8 months- 12 months
12+ months
(If you have no preference there is a option for all ages)

At this time all puppy raisers must be within 5 hours of Pensacola, Florida or in Orlando, Tampa and central Florida areas. This is planned to change in the future as we expand. If you are not within the radius you are more then welcome to apply and be put on the puppy raiser waitlist.

All puppy raisers will go through an interview process after applying to become a puppy raiser. During this time puppy raisers will receive more information about the program, the requirements and learn more about Hands and Paws Canine Training.

All expenses are paid by Hands and Paws Canine Training LLC.
