Board and Trains / Co-Raising

These services are phenomenal for anyone who is looking for their dog to work more extensively with a trainer on a regular basis. Many people sign up for this service with dogs in adolescence to get more assistance. In these programs dogs progress at a faster rate because of how much hands on training they get from the trainers. We also offer payment plan options for these services!

One-to-one Coaching Calls

A great option if you are looking to get some quick and in-depth, professional advice on concepts you are currently working on, or struggling with.

This option is also good for trainers looking to get involved in service dog training, or are interested in talking to a trainer about the ins and outs of this career.

Price $150 for 1 hour

What types of Service dogs do we train?

  • Psychiatric/PTSD Service Dogs

    • Search room in a home,
      crowd control, self harm interruptions, pressure therapy and more

  • Medical Alert

    • High and Low blood sugar (diabetes alert)

    • High Heart Rate (cardiac alert) (POTS)

    • Migraine Alert and migraine response

  • Seizure Response

    • If dog has a natural seizure alert we can help shape that into a solid alert to develop a response.

    • Responses can include pressing buttons to alert others to come help, extremity elevation, the dog can tilt the handlers body to prevent aspiration, orbit to keep people away, and more.

  • Hearing assistance Service dogs

    • Alert to noise (EX: Fire alarms, phone sounds, emergency vehicles, people calling your name, oven timers, and more)

  • Autism assistance Service dogs

    • Grounding/ Tactile stimulation

    • Pressure therapy

    • Press buttons to have someone come for help

    • Crowd Control (EX: body blocking, orbiting to create space around you)

  • Mobility assistance Service dogs

    • Non-weight bearing mobility (Ex: Retrievals, Buttons, Assist with laundry, open and close doors, turn on and of lights, assist with taking off clothes and more)

    • Weight bearing mobility (EX: Forward momentum pull, wheelchair pull, and counter balance)

  • Guide dog/ Seeing assistance

    • Destinations (EX: find chair, find car, find exit, find an office and more!

    • This includes directional cues (Left, Right, Forward, and Halt)

Lesson Bundles

You can accomplish many things by attending lessons. Some of these things can include:

Each lesson is 4o minute. During this time your trainer will give you customized homework for each lesson. Typically meeting on a weekly or bi weekly basis. In sessions you will have a Q&A with your trainer to answer any questions and then you will move on to the training sessions. Our trainers are very involved with your training goals and want to see you succeed. With that being said we do have clients submit homework M-F. The trainers can be reached between the hours of 9am-5pm CST, Monday- Friday. The trainers will review the videos and give you feedback on things you are doing very well on as well as what can be done differently.

Lesson Bundles

This program has been designed to provide assistance to disabled individuals that need more hands on help from a trainer with training their service dog. The Co-Raising program is 100% customizable for all clients and each teams plan looks different. This program is also paired with our lesson bundles.

How it works!

Your dog will come to HAPCT for a pre-determined amount of time over 3 months and live in our trainers home. During this time your dog will be working on a variety of age appropriate skills to work toward the goal of being a fully trained service dog. Co-raising allows the client to have frequent breaks from training and still be involved without the stress of having to do everything on their own.

In-between Co-Raising stays, the teams will attend in-person or virtual lessons, which ever is best for the team! FREE team trainings are included with this service at pick up.

Co-raising

CRBT

Your Service dog will be living in a home environment. Our trainers treat every dog as if they were their own and incorporate them into their daily life style. All dogs are monitored 24/7 and supervised through our security system. Our trainers include your dog in realistic everyday scenarios to prepare them for going home. In addition, our trainers will teach you how to transfer your dogs new skills to your home lifestyle and working lifestyle. Please note all of the skills your dog learns will need to be maintained to continue to see long term results.

How it works!

During your dogs board and train they will receive 1-2 training session per day. All dogs get to go on fun adventures and outings such as the beach, trails, downtown Pensacola, Home Depot, PetSmart, and other fun places. Dogs also get individual daily play time, walks and group play sessions. The dogs also get canine fitness sessions and if they are 9+ months they can go on the treadmill. Advanced service dogs will be able to go to busy areas like Destin Florida, New Orleans Louisiana, Aquariums, Disney World, OWA (theme park) and more to practice advanced Public Access skills. All of the dogs also have 2-4 hours of place time during the day while the trainers are doing virtual sessions, in person lesson, working other training dogs or doing normal daily chores around the property. Dogs are trained M-F and have a break over the weekend to let them rest. During this time they still get place time, play time, and some of the dogs will tag along for the trainers weekend hikes. If there is a big event in the area the dogs will come and attend that event for training purposes.
